I needed something to provide some privacy for my garage window as I let my dog out in the backyard at night & must go through the garage in my nightclothes. I have previously had blinds but have gone through 3 sets in 28 years as the south Georgia temperatures destroy the blinds cords. I wanted something that could be lifted from the bottom as my chihuahua likes to sit on a bench at the window & look outside at the front yard during the day. I can tie the curtain up during the day to allow visibility for her. The curtain is also sheer enough to allow light during the day. You can only see vague shapes at night from the outside so they do not completely block everything if you desire that feature. I would not consider them as particularly energy efficient in my climate as they will not block the strong southern sun very much. but that is not a feature I really needed in my garage & I wanted some natural light. They will also be easier to keep clean than the blinds as I can just take them down & wash. They are well constructed & certainly are more cost effective than purchasing a new set of blinds every few years. They will also be easier to maintain as I hate cleaning blinds especially in the garage with as dirty as they can get. Overall, these perfectly met my needs.
